Project STARGATE

Zerone Laboratories Central Computer System MARK 1

Central Computer System

Zerone Technologies Central Computer, or the Stargate Mark 1, was my personal project that showcased my skills in computer hardware and software development. It served as a central computer, media server, web server, and controlled various household hardware like fans, TVs, and lights. Running on ztOS 1.3 Upslion, I developed custom software applications to enhance functionality and usability.

To handle the hardware aspects, I incorporated an Arduino Uno board into the system. This allowed seamless communication between the hardware devices and the ztOS CORE (Central Operations Register Engine) that acted as the central command processor of ztOS Upsilon. I wrote a custom program for the Arduino board to manage the hardware components effectively.

One of the challenges I encountered was the cooling issue with the GTX 560ti GPU. I managed to find a surprisingly cheap GPU, but its cooling fan had problems. To address this, I added fan control functions to the ztOS CORE and connected an external fan to control the heat. I named this setup the ztOS GPU Stabilizer System.

I also developed a hardware monitoring system that kept track of the CPU, GPU, and other components in real-time. This provided valuable information about the system's health and performance, allowing me to address any potential issues promptly.

In addition, I created a program called ztOS CORE Link, which enabled me to control the computer and send system commands and files remotely using an Android/iOS device or a PC. I implemented a secure shell server to ensure secure communication.

The ztOS CORE had various intelligent functions. For example, I implemented an automatic time check function to turn on the lights automatically. I also added a voice command function for hands-free control and a temperature check function that would activate the fan automatically if the system temperature rose too high. Moreover, I utilized a repaired CCTV camera to create a user check function, which detected whether a user was in front of the computer.

Overall, the Stargate Mark 1 was a very enjoyable project. Unfortunately, after two years, the GPU eventually died. I was able to fix it temporarily by reballing, but eventually, the motherboard also failed. As a result, I had to dismantle the ztCC Stargate. However, the experience gained from this project has been invaluable and has set the foundation for future endeavors.
I was 17 when I embarked on this project, making it even more special to me as it was my very first desktop computer. It was an exciting and challenging undertaking, pushing me to learn and apply my knowledge in computer hardware and software development. The Stargate Mark 1 served as a testament to my passion for technology and my determination to create something unique and functional. Despite the eventual hardware issues, the experience gained from building and operating the Stargate Mark 1 was invaluable, shaping my skills and sparking my enthusiasm for future projects.

I have created a VLOG about this computer, and it can be found using the following link: https://youtu.be/CEll1M7R6Iw.
